APE alternative press expo 2009

My good friend, Mike Rios, was generous enough to share his table with me at APE (alternative press expo) this year! It was our first time, we had fun meeting people and looking at some creative zines. I will be more prepared next year, I am excited to work on a few zines, I'll also find a cheaper printer/binder for my couch tomato comic book.

Mike went all out, offering free tote bag with goodies and free photo sticker with his mascot "clammy". I can definitely learn from his marketing skills and salesmanship.

Highlight of APE was meeting Phoebe Gloeckner and Marc Bell! Both of whom I admire and adore. They were very nice and down to earth, I'm in love them even more now. Marc Bell drew a bacon hat (how did he know I LOVE bacon?) in his new "Hot Potatoe" book, which is a freaking awesome book. I get pretty nervous and awkward in social situations, being shy and introverted can be a disadvantage in this business. It was encouraging to see that even my comic heroes can feel that way too sometimes.



This cute little boy was staring at clammy's giant penis the whole time haha.

Can you tell I'm blushing? I told her that I have the biggest crush on her, which I do, she is one of the top 3 female artists who inspires me. I wish this wasn't blurry though.
